About Micah Network
The aim of the Micah Network is to create a dynamic process that facilitates collaborative action in:
- Strengthening the capacity of participating agencies to make a biblically-shaped response to the needs of the poor and oppressed.
- Speaking strongly and effectively regarding the nature of the mission of the Church to proclaim and demonstrate the love of Christ to a world in need.
- Prophetically calling upon and influencing the leaders and decision-makers of societies to "maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed and rescue the weak and needy".
In support of these aims, under the guidance of its Co-ordinating group and Executive, Micah Network will:
1. Organise regional workshops designed to increase the capacity of evangelical relief and development agencies in areas of expressed need, and enhance their ability to achieve best practice. Such workshops will draw on expertise within the network's membership and, if necessary, outside facilitators. Workshops will be hosted and organised by network members, with costs met by the participants.
2. Hold occasional major international consultations designed to address at a significant level issues of significant concern to members, while at the same time providing the opportunity for networking and fellowship.
3. Develop sub-networks of Micah members to fulfil specific functions such as a particular advocacy issue.
4. From time to time initiate global advocacy campaigns
5. Maintain a network website to facilitate communication and information sharing
Micah Network is run under the guidance of a co-ordinating group, which has representative members from all continents. Our president is Rene Padilla, President Emeritus of Kairos Foundation, Argentina and the current chair is Steve Bradbury, National Director of TEAR Australia.
